How to prepare

  1. Check your boiler and heaters early

Make sure they work, and watch out for fire.

  2. Do not overuse electric heaters

Keep things that burn easily away from heaters.

  3. Stay inside if you can

If you must go out, wear long underwear, a scarf, hat and gloves.

  4. Tell family where and when you go

Use public transport if you can.

  5. Choose someone to check on you

If you live alone, ask family or neighbors to check on you often.

  6. Prepare for power and water cuts

Keep a flashlight and food, and fill the bathtub with water.

Severe chills and confusion: go to a hospital

Severe chills, losing your sense of direction, slurred speech or exhaustion can mean hypothermia. Go to a hospital.

Do not rub frostbite or hold it to a fire. Rinse in warm water (about 40°C) and go to a hospital.

For power problems, call KEPCO at 123.

This does not replace a diagnosis.
