Sudden hearing loss needs care today

Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears needs quick treatment. Go to an ENT clinic or ER today.

Five things to prepare now

  1. Save a 119 text template

Text 119 when speaking is hard. Save your address, how you communicate, and what happened in a phone note.

  2. Fire alerts with light and vibration

Ask your local welfare office about alerts that use light or vibration instead of sound.

  3. Check emergency alert settings

Turn on emergency alerts and vibration on your phone.

  4. Agree on tactile emergency signals

Agree on signals like two taps on the shoulder to mean evacuate now.

  5. Walk your evacuation route

Walk from your door to stairs and meeting points once while you can.

If a parent misses doorbells or alarms

Check home alarms together and save a 119 text on their phone. Look into emergency safety services if they live alone.
